The Pharmacist Cooperative condemns (TPC) all acts of violence, and the killing & suffering of all innocent civilians including children & babies and calls for the immediate ceasefire in Gaza due to the disproportionate number of innocent civilians being killed or seriously injured.

TPC calls on all parties to the conflict to adhere to obligations under international humanitarian law, namely that under the Geneva Conventions the ill-treatment and killing of civilians is prohibited and the sick and wounded must be cared for.

The denial of access to food, water, electricity, and medical supplies to roughly two million people in Gaza is a breach of the Geneva Conventions. Medicines should never be used as a bargaining chip in any conflict.

TPC expresses our condolences to all our members who are affected by this conflict, both directly or indirectly.  Our thoughts are with those who have lost friends and loved ones during this crisis. We would highlight that any abuse targeting British Muslims & Jews within the UK and abroad, is also unacceptable along with Antisemitism & Islamophobia are also unacceptable.

TPC also supports the statement from the International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP), including to respect access to healthcare and ensure the safety of civilians and healthcare workers such as pharmacists regardless of religion, political affiliation, and ethnicity.

TPC agrees with the FIP statement to call for

immediate cessation of any acts that risks the lives of civilians or health

workers, especially in hospitals and refugee centres. Access to health is a basic human right and any attack on health workers and the patients they serve is abhorrent and unacceptable.
